Glitter from the Inside: Vagina Glitter Bombs
One of the ways in which Jones develops her argument regarding the capacity of the vulva to problematize inside and outside is through drawing on feminist literature on the âleakyâ body (see, for example, Grosz 1994; Longhurst 2001; Shildrick 1994). She notes that âwomenâs bodies are understood in contrast [to menâs] as less formed, more subjective, and âleakyâ, most significantly via the vulva and vagina because of menstruationâ (2017: 30). A further way in which vaginas âleakâ is through vaginal discharge, a âcompletely normalâ occurrence that means that âyou know that âMother Natureâ is doing her thing and keeping your vagina cleanâ, as the website prettywomaninc.com puts it.9 This explanation of vaginal discharge is on a Q&A page for those interested in purchasing a new product, launched in July 2017, that is described as âjust an alternative for women who find themselves having to wear uncomfortable panty liners all day, every day, because they are trying to prevent that icky, sticky feeling and those embarrassing stains that can damage and ruin your pretty pantiesâ. Passion Dust Magiculate Capsules â more colloquially known as vagina glitter bombs â are âthe first product of itâs [sic] kind EVERâ. They are,
a small sparkleized capsule that dissolves when you insert it into your vagina the magiculate formula inside the capsule mixes with your vaginal fluid so that whenever you have natural discharge it will sparkle. The result is what we call âmagicumâ.
